story time

When I was 9 years old I begged my parents to let me tag along as they picked out brick, light fixtures, and siding for our new house. I spent countless hours in the summer after 5th grade with our very artsy and interesting neighbor, talking about her electric blue living room and watching her learn to use all kinds of power tools to build the cutest gingerbread style play house for her daughter. By twelve, I was fulltime decor and accessory consultant for my mother. If someone needed a paint color ... they knew who to ask. I planned my mom's 40th surprise party at fourteen, and later, my parents 25th anniversary party. I've done countless updos, makeup, dress and jewelry selection for myself and other highschoolers who dreamed of the perfect prom and learned how to sew because I needed pillows for a bachelor pad and color saturated costumes for a local Chicago band.

You see, I can't call myself a decorator or a planner, because that's not specifically what I do best. Certain Spectacle was created because of it's many meanings. The spectacle of an event, the use of spectacles to see, and the specificity of one time. The one home, one song, one birthday, one service, two becoming oneness. I interpret and collaborate with someone to create a visual and tangible experience.

If you have a space that needs a layout, a wedding in need of a vision, a party longing for a theme, a song searching for a video idea, a band lacking costume, or just a room that needs a paint color, I think we could work something out.
